Michele Macready, Founder and Senior Management Consultant
Michele Macready brings over 20 years of business strategy, operations, product development, and professional services experience to Illume Consulting.
For the past four years, she has worked with the executive teams at Vancouver-based technology startups to develop innovative business models using the Business Model Canvas technique, develop adaptive business strategies, and scale operations to handle future growth. Michele has honed her skills delivering innovative, award-winning technology and business strategy projects with teams of 5 to 100+ people for clients from Wall Street to Silicon Valley. She has successfully delivered projects in electronic entertainment, social gaming, cloud computing, Software-as-a-Service, mobile, and web technologies.
As Vice President of Consulting for the Bios Group, Michele was a pioneer in applying complexity science to solve business problems for Fortune 500 clients, working with MacArthur Fellow genius grant winners and other leading scientists and business executives. In this role, she worked with a Fortune 100 consumer products company to create more efficient global supply chains through complexity science models, and her clients included Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Ford, Southwest Airlines, and SAP. As Vice President of Product Development at Bios Group, she led a team of scientists, software architects, and offshore developers to develop an innovative B2B matching engine based on complexity science algorithms.
Throughout her 20-year career, she has continued to apply adaptive strategies and management techniques to enable her to consistently deliver leading-edge technology and business strategy projects. As Director at Electronic Arts, Michele led a global business and system transformation project to transform the business of recruiting and develop an innovative Salesforce.com-based recruiting system; this project was awarded most innovative app of year at Salesforce.com’s annual user conference. As Client Partner at Cambridge Technology Partners, she delivered trading systems for Wall Street investment banks, and she led a $25 million business and system transformation project for a large electric and gas utility. She was a consultant for the Boston Consulting Group’s Strategy Institute, a global strategy think-tank, working with leading academics and business executives to develop multi-disciplinary insights into business strategy.
Michele is currently on the Board of Advisors for several social enterprises and high-tech startups. She also speaks at conferences, on topics such as structuring client services and using complexity science to develop and implement innovative business strategies.
Yee Chan, Senior Management Consultant
Ms Yee Chan brings over 25 years of software industry experience to Illume Consulting. For the past 7 years, Yee has focused her effort on helping local high tech companies with strategic initiatives. She launched a series of new products at Top Producer Systems; including Market Snapshot, winner of the 2007 BCTIA Impact Award – Excellence in Product Innovation. Prior to that, Yee held the position of Vice President, Product Development at Pivotal Corporation. She joined Pivotal at the time of rapid product portfolio expansion as part of their Simba Technologies Inc. acquisition. Yee joined Simba from MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates. Yee has a B.Sc. Computer Science and MBA from McGill University.
With over 25 years’ experience in all stages of the software development lifecycle, Yee’s extensive background includes the following areas:
Product Development: 15 years’ experience in directing and mentoring small and large development teams in all aspects of product development. This includes 5 years as a multi-functional manager of a start-up venture and 10 years in distributed development team management including off-shore organizations, subcontractor management and dispersed development teams. Product portfolios include middleware products, enterprise Customer Relationship Management systems and Software as a Service applications.
Product Management: Yee has successfully held Product Management positions through out her career. By leveraging her extensive knowledge of both product development and product management, she brings her knowledge of customer requirements, product roadmap planning, and product delivery to her consulting engagements.
Management Consulting: Yee has considerable experience consulting in the local software development community. Consulting on a long and short-term basis in a number of Vancouver firms, she has effected positive organizational changes to promote product planning, release and execution strategies and best practices in software development and product management.
